The month of November is a bustling with fun fall activities from basketball games to festivals — you’ll be sure to find an event to put you in the holiday mood.
On November 3rd through the 6th, Birmingham’s Christmas Village Festival takes hold in the BJCC. With arts, crafts, gifts and food all under one roof, the Christmas Village is where holiday shopping begins each year. Some shoppers come to window shop for a day, while others make a weekend of it and stay at the Sheraton Hotel that is connected to the Civic Center.
If you’re looking for a weekend spent at The Preserve, drinking craft beer while wandering through aisles of nature themed arts and crafts vendors, the Moss Rock Festival is another holiday shopping event held on the first weekend of November. Presented by Alabama Outdoors, the 11th annual Moss Rock festival welcomes nearly 12,000 visitors annually to explore Nature, Art+Design and SmartLIVING themes. This is the perfect fun fall activity in Birmingham.
Show your support for the veterans on November 11th at the 69th annual Veteran’s Day Parade. Birmingham hosts the original and oldest Veteran’s Day Parade in the country, beginning in 1947. World War II veteran, Raymond Weeks of Birmingham, rallied in Washington DC for the creation of Veteran’s Day. Lasting from 2 to 3 hours, the parade is the perfect way to spend time with your family and honor the veterans in the heart of the holiday’s founding city.
